This is our most demanding camp. Teenagers aged 14 to 16 take on long via ferrata routes, complex navigation and real responsibility in the mountains, learning to lead their team and look after themselves in the Alps, with our camp leaders alongside at every step.

Alpine Challengers Camp
The perfect Summer Camp!

Saas-Fee is the ideal setting for a challenge. The car-free village sits at 1,800 m among some of the highest peaks in the Alps, with long iron paths, glacier views and forest trails that reward campers who are ready to work for them.

At 14 to 16, teenagers want to be trusted. Alpine Challengers gives them that: campers take turns leading navigation legs, briefing the group and organising camp tasks, with a leader beside them to keep every decision safe. They come home more capable, and knowing it.

Small groups keep the standard high. We combine advanced mountain skills with sports and team challenges, always fostering leadership, responsibility and camaraderie.

What are the activities
for teens aged 14 to 16?

Alpine Challengers is built around long mountain days. Campers tackle full-length via ferrata routes, progress on rope with climbing and abseiling, and plan and lead their own navigation exercises with map and compass. Survival skills go deeper: fire, shelter, water and the decision-making that a changing mountain forecast demands.

Between the big days the programme stays varied and social: multisport sessions, yoga, creative workshops and evening activities that bring the international group together. Everything runs in English, which makes the camp a great option for teens preparing for international school or exams.

Are the camps for teens
available regardless of level?

Our alpine camps for 14 to 16 year olds suit both returning campers and confident newcomers. A good level of fitness and the appetite for a challenge are all that is needed: no previous climbing or via ferrata experience is required, and our instructors build every technique from the basics.

Parents can rest assured knowing that safety is our top priority. Our staff members are trained in first aid, all technical equipment is provided and checked by our certified instructors, and we maintain a low camper-to-leader ratio on every route.

She spent the morning with an incredible instructor who took the group into the woods to learn about tying knots & how to erect a tent. My daughter enjoyed this experience very much & both she & I were disappointed she couldn't attend any further days. Each day is a different, well curated experience all based in and around the local nature. I also saw a friend who's daughter joined the group for older children & she also had a positive experience. The instructors were helpful & attentive when I had queries & when I provided details of my daughters allergies. I felt very comfortable & confident leaving her with them (she is 5 year's old) Lastly, my daughter met a girl within her group with whom she made an instant connection so that was an added bonus for us! FAQ about summer camps in Saas-Fee

During summer, Saas-Fee experiences pleasant, sunny weather with daytime temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Mornings and evenings can be cooler, so bring layers. Expect occasional rain showers, so pack waterproof clothing as well, but generally this part of the Alps has a rather sunny microclimate and so great, reliable conditions for these camps.

The educational element of the camp focuses on discovery and adventure, blending the excitement of learning new sports and a mix of other activities, such as outdoor mountain survival skills, as well as the benefit of hands-on interactive English language learning. While English enhancement is part of the experience, our primary focus is on overall learning and personal growth. Ideal for both English speakers and learners a-like, these camps are the perfect setting for kids to explore, learn, and grow in an engaging and dynamic environment, and make new friends and unforgettable memories in the outdoors.

For summer camps in Saas-Fee, pack layered clothing, a waterproof jacket, comfortable pants/joggers and shorts, sports trainers and hiking boots, swimwear and essential accessories like a hat and cap, sunglasses and sunscreen (with strong SPF protection). A rucksack/backpack is strongly recommended as well.

We are pleased to provide daily drop-in rates that cater to individuals of all age groups. For our younger participants, we have structured our schedule so that they can only attend in the mornings. This arrangement ensures that each age group receives the attention and care they need while allowing for a smooth experience throughout the day.

The official camp language is English, ensuring easy and relaxed communication among campers. However, our camp leaders are multilingual, which allows them to assist and support campers who may be more comfortable in their native language including French, Spanish and German, enhancing the overall camp experience.

The general timetable consists of full days of activities. Breakfast will be from 08.00 onwards each day and activities will begin at 09.30 and finish at 18.00. And then we will have fun evening games/activities after dinner from 19.30 – 20.30. (N.B. No camp on Saturday afternoons, evenings and through until Sunday at 16.00). Campers will be engaged in various indoor and outdoor activities, fun interactive language lessons, and group events throughout the day, ensuring a fun, enriching, and memorable experience.

The camp is designed for children aged 5-15, but we can make exceptions on a case-by-case basis if necessary. We strive to accommodate each child’s needs and ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants..

Yes, rest assured that the children are well taken care of throughout the day, from morning until night. Our dedicated staff ensures that the kids are entertained, engaged in activities, and supervised at all times to provide a safe and enjoyable experience.

Most kids attending the camps come from diverse international backgrounds. This mix of cultures and languages creates a unique environment for learning, encouraging cultural exchange, and making lifelong friendships with campers from around the world.

The accommodation provided is in a 3-star hotel, with shared rooms arranged by age and sex. This ensures a comfortable and safe environment for campers while promoting camaraderie and fostering connections among children of similar age groups.
